Your privacy
Cookies and data storage
This page describes storage and services on the public website. You can listen to radio with “Necessary only” selected.
Website and radio operation
The website uses a session and protection against forged requests. Radio streaming starts when you press play; your browser connects to the station server. Background video and song title updates are part of website operation. Servers receive technical connection details, such as your IP address.
What is saved in your browser
- Session cookies
- The website session and XSRF-TOKEN protect requests. The session expires 120 minutes after the last activity.
- Radio settings
- radio_last_played_channel, radio_volume and radio_muted save the last listened channel, volume and mute settings in localStorage until browser data is deleted.
- Favorites and language
- best-radio-favorites stores station and channel IDs and their order in localStorage. radio_queue stores the queue selection. The radio_language cookie saves the selected language for one year. Favorites remain until browser data is deleted, are not synchronized with the app and are not sent to the server when added.
- Your consent choice
- best-radio-cookie-consent stores selected categories, the selection time and expiry in localStorage. Your choice is requested again after 180 days.
- Optional statistics
- Only with permission, web_stats_session_id and web_device_id are saved in localStorage until permission is withdrawn or browser data is deleted. web_stats_visit_* entries in sessionStorage prevent duplicate visit counts within a tab and disappear when it closes. Withdrawing permission deletes these entries.
Listening statistics
If statistics are allowed, Best-Radio.lv receives random identifiers, station and channel IDs, browser language, event time, IP address and browser technical details (User-Agent, operating system and browser type). A visit is recorded when a station opens, and an activity signal is sent every 30 seconds while listening. Rejecting stops new requests; it does not delete events already sent.
Apple iTunes artwork
Only with permission, our server searches Apple iTunes for song artwork. Apple receives the song title and technical details about our server connection. Search results are stored in a shared cache without being linked to a particular user. The browser loads artwork images directly from Apple servers; these requests send Apple technical details about the browser connection, including the IP address. Withdrawing permission stops requests and replaces artwork with station images. Previously loaded images may remain in the browser cache until it is cleared.
How to change your choice
Open “Cookie settings” in the website footer. Allow each category separately, reject both or save a new choice. Rejecting does not stop radio. Deleting browser data also removes your choice.
Contact messages
Sending a message saves your name, message, optional email address, website language, time, IP address and User-Agent. We use these details to handle your request and reply if you provide an email. The time of your confirmation that you have read this policy and the policy version are recorded. Only authenticated administrators can access the messages. This confirmation is not consent to marketing. Older messages and messages from the mobile app may not contain these fields.
Contact form security
When Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled, it checks the contact form to prevent automated submissions. Loading the check connects your browser to Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and browser and device security signals. Our server sends the verification token to Cloudflare; your name, email and message are not included in that request. Tokens are not saved with messages. This security check is separate from optional listening statistics and artwork.
